The Druids Reviews

Property was amazing Perfect for our family occasion Clean and well dressed rooms Garden was perfect for the kids Only downside was after we booked the property it dropped in price and Menai holidays wouldnt entertain our complaints as we only booked for 3 nights and could have booked for 7 nights for less ! !!!!! Would love to return and we have recommended the property to friends
We had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Very good service from the owners A few books and a couple of boardgames wouldve been great to have had at the property.
Lovely house it was very quirky with lots of places for hide and seek for the children. We had a problem with the heating and Helen the owner came straight away to sort it out. The older children loved the hot tub and the games room was a bonus. The property was well placed for getting about, and we had a nice walk to the farm shop but the road was very busy Thank you Helen it was lovely celebrating my birthday in your property
Pamela
Absolutely fantastic. House full of character and very spacious. Very well equipped we lacked nothing. Beds were extremely comfortable and bathrooms plentiful. We all enjoyed being able to stroll down to the river and there were lots of great walks a short drive away. We were warned about road noise but that didnt seem bad to us. The garden was nice and the the games room being outside suited our party as those who wanted to retire early didnt hear the noise of the competitions! There was nothing we didnt like. A bigger hot tub would have been better though.

Thank you. We had a fabulous weekend. The cottage is full of character. We are interested in the history of the cottage as we had an unusual sighting whilst there!
Pamela
The Druids is very characterful, spacious and comfortable. It has grounds big enough for games of cricket etc. We liked the fact that the games room was outside the main house, keeping the noise level down inside! It would have been good to have had a larger hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed but it was a bit of a squash to fit our party of 20 round the dining room table. All the bedrooms were light and attractive and most had nice views. You can walk directly down to the river and there are numerous walks in stunning countryside a short drive away. We enjoyed the circular walk around Llangollen castle. Altogether our party of 3 family generations had a very enjoyable weekend.
What an incredible place to stay! ! So full of character and history, we felt privileged to have been able to stay. We were a group of people 20, friends with kids of all ages and it was perfect for all. Each family had plenty of space, the outdoor space was great, we had a BBQ and cooked in the kitchen. We had plenty of cookware, glasses etc and lots of space for us all to sit and eat. We also enjoyed the hot tub and games room. Beds and sofas were all comfortable, everyone slept well and relaxed. The location was great with Bala lake nearby, so we spent a day there enjoying the lake. Would love to know more about the history of the property. Thank you for having us. We will definitely come again!
The property was lovely, and the perfect place to celebrate our dad's 80th. Everyone enjoyed their stay and we were so lucky with the weather too so could enjoy sitting outside. The house is full of charm and character, with plenty of space to find a quiet space for yourself if you wanted. There was a bit of road noise from bikes, but we were aware of this when we booked, and to be expected being a former coach house at the junction of a main road. The facilities were well thought out, with both a large fridge and freezer, so plenty of room to store our food and drinks for the weekend. The kitchen was large enough to cook and prepare a meal for a large party. And the bedroom and bathrooms configuration were perfect for the number we needed. Even the hot tub was enjoyed by several people over the weekend. Having eggs, milk already in the fridge when we arrived was a nice surprise, as well as there already being some dishwasher tablets and cleaning products etc. We would recommend The Druids to anyone who is looking for a place to hold a large family gathering, we had a great time and will definitely consider it next time we have a large family get together
A perfect house for our gathering of family members from four generations. A comfortable, warm house with a well equipped kitchen, excellent bathrooms and comfortable beds. Well positioned to explore this part of Wales. We would certainly recommend The Druids for anyone looking for a house full of character to accommodate a big group of people.
One of our most successful holiday locations as a three generational group of friends and family ranging from ages 5 75. We loved the decor, all the old features and the quirkiness of the layout. The children loved running through and around the the rooms and garden, it felt very safe for them. The hot tub was a massive asset and we appreciated the fact that it was so clean and well maintained. The house was very comfortable, warm and cosy and clean. The clustering of bedrooms worked well. For us it would have been helpful if there had been a couple more twin bedded rooms as two sets of children had to share double beds. There was road noise 247, but we were warned and it was in a very handy location, so many lovely places nearby. The kitchen would have been improved by a least one very large pan and casserole dish luckily we always bring one and some soupstew bowls. Otherwise it was pretty well equipped good knives, hurrah! We are used to having a much more complete and informational house folder, it would have been nice to have a potted history of the house for example. No board games or novels on the shelves, but I am guessing they went by the wayside after Covid? So all in all, a brilliant holiday location. Thanks.
William
The cottage had no wine or beer glasses that we could find, just small water glasses. Odd for a house designed for celebrations. The heating and hot water was turned offfailed on the penultimate day of our stay. There was no warning message or reset option.
The property is excellent for a large group of people to holiday in. The main house provided everything that we needed and we were very grateful that the owner responded quickly when we couldnt find the cot and high chair. There were some minor issues with the Annex there was no TV remote, the washing machine didnt work and the plumbing was extremely noisy. We were surprised that there were no instructions for appliances or the hot tub.
Veronica
Holiday cottage was spotlessly clean and everything was as listed. Great property for large families and we had a great time. Facilities were great, plenty of room for everyone, no issues with heating or hot water. Would definitely recommend. Property full of character which definitely added to the stay.
Wonderfully quirky old property with furnishing that really suited its character. Nice big rooms that met the needs of our multigenerational party perfectly though four sets of stairs and two toddlers required some careful supervision!! We were able to visit many areas of interest including Snowden which were no more than an hour or less away. Queries were responded to quickly by owners and the bowl full of fresh eggs was much appreciated. A little pruning of shrubs would have made it more fun for the older children to explore all parts of the outdoor space but plenty of room to play outdoor games. We would happily recommend it to any large group.

Not good cottage
What a great house plenty of room everywhere was nice and clean and the house was short of nothing. Lots of room outside so we were not in top of each other. Lots of space to park multiple cars. Would highly recommend for large groups
Just returned from 50th celebrations, 9 couples. Had a fab time, the accommodation is a little dated but this was expected due to the description & style of the property. It had everything we needed and plenty of room for everyone, a lovely big kitchen where we spent most of our time, some lovely bedrooms & ensuites and comfy beds. Everything was really clean, including the bedding and towels. Only downside was maybe a larger hot tub and in need of some wine glasses but that was literally it. It was a great space for groups of friends or family. We also walked to the local pub 'The Blue Lion' who accommodated us all and fed us well we did prebook. Overall we would recommend!

We could see The Druids from the approaching road and all we could say was WOW! This was a weekend that we had all waited 2 years for, we originally booked to celebrate Mum and Dads 50th anniversary but COVID put a stop to that with a full lockdown. We decided to book again and belatedly celebrate the 50th anniversary combined with my 50th birthday. It was lovely for us all to finally be together and we couldn't have chosen a more perfect place. The house is amazingly beautiful, the bedrooms and bathrooms are tastefully decorated and every room has its own unique feel with the beautiful furniture. The annexe was perfect for my parents as they would have struggled in the main house up and down the stairs. The kitchen seemed to be our main congregating point and felt very homely. No one has complained of a bad back as beds were all comfortable. Plenty of dishes, cutlery, cups, glasses etc, could do with more dishwasher tablets though. It is such a big house to explore and every staircase and doorway leading somewhere leaves you amazed. The grounds are lovely and safe and the toddlers have had a great time playing outside all weekend. We are a family of 16 consisting of 4 generations, this weekend at The Druids is one that we will never forget and we have some fantastic photos and memories that will last forever.
