About Little Owl Cottage Umberleigh

Set on a rural smallholding with far-reaching views, this delightful barn conversion makes a fantastic retreat for up to four guests. The cottage has been tastefully decorated in light, relaxing tones, and is perfect for couples and families exploring the beautiful countryside of North Devon. Featuring a soothing hot tub and exposed wooden beams, this is an ideal getaway for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers exploring the quaint villages, rolling countryside and stunning beaches of this spellbinding area. This inviting property features a welcoming open-plan lounge/diner which provides an ideal space for everyone to unwind in at the end of a great day. With French doors allowing plenty of light in, a Smart TV and wood burner-effect electric fire, the lounge is a perfect spot for snuggling up to watch a movie or chat about the day. You can share all your favourite meals in the dining area, and the charming kitchen has plenty of equipment to help you cook up a feast. Upstairs, the first floor offers two bedrooms: an en-suite double and a king-size room, along with a handy shower room. Stepping outside from the kitchen, a private courtyard provides ideal access for your dog after a long country walk. From the lounge, you can head out into a patio garden with outdoor furniture and a bubbling hot tub. The cottage is ideally placed for walkers and cyclists following the Tarka Trail through the stunning surrounding countryside. The bustling market towns of Great Torrington (6 miles) and Barnstaple (8 miles) have a range of great pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes. Heading to the coast, the nearest seaside resort is the delightful Victorian village of Westward Ho! with its vast sandy beach (13 miles).

The garden is secure, but if you've got a lively dog like ours, just be cautious - it's not very highand a jumper might get over. We kept her on a long lead, which worked perfectly. Honestly, it was great to relax in the hot tub with such a nice view. Would definitely recommend!

We loved the peaceful setting and how well-kept everything was. The hot tub overlooking the valley was a highlight. Plenty of activities nearby, but we especially enjoyed hiking at Heddon Valley and Lynton's Valley of Rocks. Great stay!

The location is just right, with lovely villages, great pubsand seaside towns nearby. Relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of wine was just what we needed. We'll definitely come back!

We stayed at this charming converted barn on a busy farm and really enjoyed it. The beds were super comfyand having a washing machine with a dryer was a lifesaver after a day at the nearby beaches like Woolacombe and Tunnel Beaches in Ilfracombe. The hot tub was a lovely touch, perfect for relaxing. Claire and Kevin were fantastic hosts-friendly but not intrusive, always ready to help if needed. The scenery is stunning, especially with swallows flying about in summer. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay in Little Owl Cottage. We stayed for the week and there was plenty of space for 4 adults and our dog with a good sized garden terrace area plus the hot tub, which was a real bonus! We all slept so well thanks to the really comfy beds! The hosts asked us if we wanted single or double beds, which was great since we were fully accommodated for. Tranquil location, comfortableand with everything you'd need. The Wi-Fi was a fab feature. A must for a North Devon country break!

Little Owl Cottage is a lovely little gem of a cottage and a fantastic base to explore both the North Devon countryside and the nearby beaches. The cottage itself is spotless and really well planned out, with enclosed areas if you're taking a dog. The hot tub was brilliant for relaxing after a day of adventuring. The owners are wonderful and approachable if you need them (which we didn't because everything was perfect). Highly recommend if you want a secluded, peaceful base!

We stayed at Little Owl Cottage for four days during the May half term. It's a lovely property with stunning views of the countryside. The owners were really accommodating, striking the perfect balance with their contact. There are plenty of great places to explore, but a car is definitely necessary. The hot tub was a fantastic way to unwind at the end of each day after our adventures. We'd highly recommend it and can't wait to return sometime in the near future!
